For this project, we were asked to design athletic inspired garments using a 20-150/96 textured PET/Spandex blend yarn. Using the Shima Seiki SDS-ONE "APEX" Design Software I was able to simulate my design before knitting it on the MACH 2XS 123 15 Gauge Machine. Because the yarn has such high extensibility, I wanted to play around with structural placement, which led to the circular back mesh vent as well as the mesh ring on the upper chest. Additionally, I engineered a triangular pattern on the arms to allow for moisture wicking. Finally, I employed an engineered rid structure to the lower body of the shirt to provide compression and prevent the shirt from riding up during physical activity.
